چکیده :
Isobutyl acetate is produced from the esterification of isobutyl alcohol. It has several applications in the chemical industry. However, the problem is that these two substances together form an azeotrope and cannot be separated by normal distillation. pressure swing distillation is an appropriate process for separating these two substances. However, its energy consumption is very high and its thermal integration is mandatory. In this article, two methods of feed splitting and cascade are used for the heat integration of the pressure swing distillation process. The results showed that both methods reduced the energy consumption of the process by 17% and 62%, respectively. However, the cascade method performed better. The most significant reason was the removal of the high-pressure tower condenser and the removal of the low-pressure tower re-boiler. Additionally, the cascade method requires two towers at two different pressures, and the periodic pressure distillation process inherently meets these requirements. Thus, the cascade method can significantly reduce the energy consumption of the periodic pressure distillation process without adding equipment and capital cost.
