چکیده :
Due to climate change of the planet Earth, international and national communities, including Iran, are looking for solutions to manage energy use as a main reason of global warming and find applied solutions to prevent environmental disasters that may occur if the current trend continues. Greenhouse gases emission is one of the main factors of global warming, and one of its main reasons is the use of fossil fuels on a large scale. Construction industry has about 40% of the demand for energy consumption in Iran, and the highest amount of energy waste also happens in this sector. One of the most practical solutions to prevent the release of these pollutants is the optimal and minimized use of fossil fuels in buildings. In this research, different HVAC systems for a residential high-rise building, central and split systems, are evaluated and their amount of energy use and produced emissions are compared. numerical simulations show that a central system uses more natural gas than electricity to meet the building’s needs, whereas the opposite happens in split system. Moreover, split system produces and emits twice as much Carbon Dioxide as does the central system.
