Losses calculation of a two-input Boost Converter for Renewable Energy Applications

چکیده :

This paper calculates power losses in a modular boost converter operating on constant input voltage with fixed switching frequency. The converter can be implemented for various renewable energy sources, such as photovoltaic panels and fuel cell applications where several power supplies need to be connected to a load. Mathematical calculation essentials are given in detail. Every single component involved in power losses is considered. In this paper, the method used for power loss calculation can be generalized to other boost converters in order to obtain efficiency and other crucial matters of designing a power supply system. It can be seen that inductor power losses and MOSFET switching losses take the largest share of the power losses, respectively.
