چکیده :
In this paper, a battery-charging management system is represented for lithium batteries based on the pulse charging method. The main objectives of the paper include achieving the maximum efficiency, reduction in the charging time, power consumption, and battery temperature during the charging process. The designed structure can change the main parameters of the charging profile such as frequency, pulse width and charging current, to select the most suitable pulse charging profile. The performance of the proposed management system is verified by applying an experimental prototype. The results show that three frequencies including 250 Hz, 2 kHz, and 12 kHz can be chosen for a charging process. By changing the charge status between fast and normal charging profiles, the charging process is evaluated in terms of efficiency, duration, power consumption, and battery temperature, and finally, the optimum charging state is selected. According to the experimental results, the proposed structure experiences 98.5% and 94.5% efficiencies in fast-charging and normal-charging states, respectively. In addition, 59% reduction in the charging time is achieved for the fast-charging state, while the battery temperature, during the charging process, remains within the admissible range. Moreover, it is shown that the designed structure is promisingly able to deliver the optimal charging pulse to the battery, such that the best charging response can be obtained.
