Effect of Mahan Solar Farm as PV-STATCOM on Short Circuit Fault and Reactive Power Compensation Using Aquila Optimizer

چکیده :
Along with the significant expansion of solar farms in power systems, it is observed that these farms only produce active power during the day and are completely unusable at night. This paper presents a new controlling method to be used in solar farms at night. The proposed method convert the photovoltaic system to a FACTs devices at night. The farm inverters can act as PV-STATCOM or reactive power compensating. In this paper, PV-STATCOM is used as the reactive power compensator and damper of power oscillations due to short circuit fault in the system and regulating the voltage within the allowable limits to maintain the stability of the network. During the day, PV-STATCOM can inject Active and Reactive power into grid under normal operation, if a short circuit has occurred in the network, the mode of the inverter is changed and the reactive power is injected to maintain the stability of the network. The PI controller of the PV-STATCOM is automatically tuned and optimized using Aquila Optimization (AO) algorithm to guarantee the best performance in the network. Simulation and implementation of the proposed system is done in the MATLAB software and case study is the solar farm of Kerman province with 10 MW nominal capacity.
